Humaira Choonara

Humaira Choonara, also known as Liz Thebe appointed as the SARCC’s Group Executive: Human Resources with effect from 1 April 2008.
Ms Choonara holds amongst other qualifications a BA (Hons) in Social Work (Unisa), a BA (Hons) in Psychology- cum laude (Vista), a Masters in Social Science (RAU) and a Masters in Business Engineering – with a distinction (University of Warwick in the UK). She also successfully completed several development programmes in Human Resources (Higher Diploma in Human Resources – cum laude, UNISA, Leadership and Top Management locally and in the US and Singapore respectively. Her special interest is with the Organizational Culture Change.
Ms Choonara started her Human Resources career when she joined Eskom as an EAP Practitioner, Consultant and Manager in 1998. She has since been promoted several times to other Human Resources positions in the Eskom Group including the Divisional Human Resources Manager for the Generation

She gained extensive experience in Human Resources and related fields before and after joining Eskom. She has been involved at a national and international level with initiatives dealing with HIV and AIDS. Ms Choonara has written a number of professional publications dealing with people issues such as HIV and AIDS, managing trauma in the workplace and the role of women during transformation
She is presently serving on a number of Board and committees- mainly: SARS HR and the Remuneration Committees, The City of Tswane Performance Audit Committee, as the Chairperson, Junior Achievement South Africa, as Board Member. She was also the Chairperson MEDIPOS and a trustee of the SAPO provident and Pension funds, a founding and Board member of the Women in Oil and Energy (WOESA) and a Chairperson of the Judges for Technology for Women in Business (TWIB)
She previously served in the South African Suppliers Development (SASDA) as the Chairperson of the Board and founder member and member of the HR Committee, ARECSA as a founding Board member, EAP as the SA president, Global Coalition on HIV and AIDS as a founder member, ESETA as an authority and Massive Effort Campaign against the Diseases of Poverty as the SA founder and Chairperson and a Board member internationally. The SA Post Office has just been awarded the Best Employer 2007, Top 25 companies under her HR leadership.
Chris Lister-James
B.Comm. , CA (SA), H.Dip Tax
Chris is a founder of the business with Mutle and Colin. His primary responsibility is the management of the Vantage Technology Fund and he is also involved in proprietary investments such as CompCorp.
Chris brings a wealth of experience in financial management and in investment banking, particularly in structured finance and private equity fund management. His most recent prior experience was at Real Africa Durolink Investment Bank Limited (RAD) where he established and managed a technology venture capital fund. Over this period Chris invested in 11 companies and had exited 4 prior to leaving to start Vantage Capital. Prior to this Chris had worked at RAD in the area of structured finance and implemented various financing structures to the value of approximately R150 million.
Chris started his investment banking career at Durolink Projects (which subsequently became RAD) in 1990, where he spent three years in structured and project finance. Thereafter, Chris decided to pursue a career in the commercial sector and moved to McCarthy Retail Limited where he was group financial manager and was responsible for group financial strategy, tax, treasury, etc. He was then promoted to Financial Director of McCarthy Motor Holdings Ltd, which is the largest motor retailer in the Southern Hemisphere with a turnover of R8 billion. Chris served articles with Price Waterhouse for three years and worked at the Receiver of Revenues office for four years as an alternative to doing military training.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, a Diploma in Accountancy and Higher Diploma in Taxation from the University of Natal. He passed his Chartered Accountant Board Exam in 1983 and completed a Management Advancement programme at the Wits Business School in 1992. Chris played first class cricket for Natal for 4 years and represented the South African President’s XI versus Australia in 1986.
Eric Mabuza

Mr Mabuza obtained his B Proc degree from the University of the North (1991). He also obtained his LLB degree from the University of the Witwatersrand (1994). He completed his articles of clerkship at Edward Nathan & Friedland lnc, where he obtained excellent experience in commercial and corporate legal practice.
He is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa, a member of the Law Society of South Africa and a partner at a law firm, Mabuza Attorneys.
Mr Mabuza specialises in general commercial law and broadcasting law and has been a legal advisor in a number of Black Economic Empowerment Transactions.

Linda McClure

Linda McClure was appointed as the Managing Director of Junior Achievement South Africa in January 2006. She was a founding Director of the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and her role was that of Director: Operations, Finance and Human Resources. Previous to this she was the Administrative Director at the Wits Business School for three years and Financial Manager for the NGO Promat Colleges for seven years.
Linda’s particular skills are in the financial, human resources and operational areas but her experience in the establishment of a new business school has included the full range of business practices including marketing, public relations, and information technology. Her seven years with Promat Colleges exposed her to the NGO sector, specifically in the areas of financial management and fundraising.
She holds a BComm and an LLB degree from Unisa and has registered for a Masters in Public and Development Management at Wits.

Nelly Mofokeng

Nelly Mofokeng was appointed as Finance Director for Junior Achievement South Africa in January 2009. She is a JA out of school programme (BESP) graduate. She started working for Junior Achievement in August 1994 as Programme Secretary, PA to General Manager, Business Development Officer, PA to Finance Director and Finance Assistant.
Over the years at JA she has acquired skills in training, human resources, finance and administration. She has done voluntary work at the South African Red Cross rendering first aid to victims of violence, offering relief supplies to people affected by natural disasters; helping communities to start up food gardens; conducting HIV/AIDS awareness workshops.
She holds a B-tech Business Administration from UJ, Dip. Financial Accounting from Varsity College, N.Dip Commercial Administration from Unisa, Cert. Business Management from Potchefstroom University and is currently registered for MAP at the Wits Business School.

Dolly Mokgatle

Dolly Mokgatle holds a BProc from the University of the North, an LLB and an HDip Tax Law from Wits University.
She is an Executive Director of Peatona Group Holdings and also serves as Deputy Chairman of the National Energy Regulator of South Africa, and as a non-executive director of various other Companies. She is a former Managing Director of Eskom and CEO of Spoornet. She has also formerly served as a member of the Potchefstroom University Council.

Donna Nemer Oosthuyse

Chief Operating Officer, Citi Africa Division.
Donna joined Citi in New York in 1985 as part of the Country Debt Restructuring Unit where she worked for four years as part of a team under Bill Rhodes handling countries such as Mexico, Ecuador and Costa Rica. In 1990 she established and managed a Treasury Marketing Unit in NY to originate business opportunities for Citigroup’s offices in Latin America. In January 1991 she transferred to Sao Paulo Brazil to assume the position as head of derivatives in the treasury, a position she filled until January 1995 when she was asked to assist with the opening of Citigroup’s new franchise in South Africa. Donna has held several senior positions in Citi South Africa. Donna is now the Chief Operating Officer for Africa Division.
Donna graduated cum laude from Duke University in 1978 and holds a Master of Arts Degree from Georgetown University (1982), majoring in Latin American Studies and Economics.

She is dedicated to community service and sits on the boards of Junior Achievement Southern Africa and the American Chamber of Commerce. She serves as Deputy Chair of the International Banking Association of SA and sits on the board of the SA Banking Association. Donna is married to Johan and they have 4 children. She is an avid horsewoman and enjoys quilting.

Mohale is the CEO of MSG Rimani which owns a controlling interest in The Jupiter Drawing Room (Jhb) of which he is the Executive Chairman. He is continuing the rewarding strategy and other work he’s done in advertising and marketing over a 13 year period that rescued him from a career in academia which started in the US. He joined the TDJR team from the Liberty Group where he was a Group Executive responsible for Marketing strategy and market segmentation within marketing and distribution (MaD).

He was a MaD Exco and Liberty Group Executive Forum member. He had joined the Liberty Group from TBWA\ South Africa, a diversified globally aligned marketing communications group, where he was Group Development Director having joined the TBWA\South Africa Group as a Deputy Managing Director of TBWA\HUNT\LASCARIS (Gauteng) in 2000. He led the group’s strategy, transformation, business development, senior client and stakeholder interaction and numerous organizational development and new business initiatives which almost doubled the Johannesburg operation during his tenure as Deputy MD.
Mohale has worked on and driven strategy development for a number of leading international and local brands in the Beverages, FMCG, Financial Services, ICT and Broadcasting sectors including numerous product and company launches. He spent two years as a researcher with the Ford Foundation Diversity Initiative at the Queens College of the City University of New York (CUNY) during which time he worked on published studies examining housing in New York City (1991-1992) and examining factors affecting performance in mathematics and science among Latino, African American, Asian and White youth (1992-1993). He graduated from the CUNY with a BA Honors in Political Science and a BA Honors in Sociology with a Psychology minor but in good conscience and protest skipped the graduation ceremony where he was to be celebrated as an iconic student leader by the college President whose policies he opposed.
Mohale played a significant part in the delivery of South Africa’s first democratic elections with the IEC in Bloemfontein and later drove the campaign that delivered South Africa’s first truly democratic voter’s roll (1998-1999) and 1999 election campaign. Among many achievements in life, and hopefully more to come at Jupiter, he played a pivotal role in drafting and adopting of the Advertising industry BEE scorecard.
In addition to featuring in the print and electronic media on BEE, Marketing Strategy and Organisational Transformation issues and presenting at numerous conferences, he has lectured by invitation at RAU, GIBS and Vega School of Branding where he sits on the advisory council and serves as one of the Imagination Lab patrons. He has served in the BMF and contributed to the South African employment equity framework development through those BMF structures.

Abdul Rajah joined Junior Achievement SA in Jan 1992 as Finance Director from University of Witwatersrand who handled the finances for Junior Achievement.Abdul had similar financial positions in commerce including 14 years with Roneo Alcatel.

Nicky Sheridan

VICE PRESIDENT CMUT MEA & COUNTRY LEADER ORACLE SOUTH AFRICA
Nicky Sheridan has been with Oracle Corporation for over 18 years starting his career at its headquarters in California, and subsequently working in Australia and Europe in a variety of senior management roles.
Prior to taking up the role of Vice-President and Managing Director of Oracle Ireland in 2003, Nicky was Vice President of Oracle's Shared Services Centre in Dublin, which services all of Oracle’s back office services for Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA.)
In 1998, Mr Sheridan established the centre where customer, partner, supplier and employee data is controlled from Dublin for 42 countries in EMEA.

Nicky & his team redefined Oracle’s processes by simplifying, standardising, automating & centralising them in Dublin. The service is considerably cheaper than the previous decentralised organisation and offers a higher degree of control preferred by organisations where Corporate Governance remains the highest priority. It also means that Oracle’s structure is exceptionally agile and responsive to changes in the marketplace facilitating competitiveness.
In October 2005, Sheridan took up the appointment of Vice President & Managing Director of Oracle South Africa. In June 2008, Sheridan was promoted to Vice President CMUT MEA & Country Leader Oracle South Africa.
Sheridan established Oracle’s operations in Hungary in 1993 and later spent 5 years in Budapest working in Regional roles for Oracle in Eastern Europe before returning to Ireland to set up the SSC in 1998.
Originally from Wicklow in Ireland, Nicky holds a Bachelor of Commerce from UCD and is a Chartered Accountant. He previously held positions with KMPG, Dublin and PriceWaterhouseCoopers, San Jose, California before joining Oracle.
